Plottery

Plottery is a role-playing game where you decide what your character does or says, and a language model writes what happens next. The model runs on your own computer so no fees or turn limits.

Three ways to play:

1. Worlds: A generated map with towns, roads and an economy. Walk around, take jobs, buy places, and let the narrator write the scenes along the way. Worlds mode is in early development.

2. Stories: Text based role-playing mode. Each turn you act or speak, and the AI narrates what happens. Background agents track the world, the characters, the quests and the passing of time while the narrator writes, so a long story stays consistent.

3. Chats: Talk with one or more characters in a chat format without a narrator.

Each game mode requires a template that describes the world, scenario, or characters. Templates can be generated or manually written in the app.

Runs on your hardware

Because the model runs on your machine, Plottery spends model calls freely: several llm calls per turn, long context, retries. On first launch it recommends a model for your hardware and downloads it in one click. You can browse HuggingFace from the settings menu and use any local GGUF model or any OpenAI-compatible API.

Optional extras run locally too: image generation for scenes and portraits, and voices you design by describing them in plain words.

If you have another computer that has a better graphics card, you can pair it from inside the app and run the llm there. The iOS app is currently in TestFlight and coming soon.Website and docs: https://plottery.app
